Abstract
Polycarboxylate scale inhibitors are anionic and low molecular weight polyelectrolyte that derived from one kind, two kinds or more of monomers. The main role in inhibition of the polycarboxylate is anionic, and it is good chelators for Ca2+, Mg2+, Fe3+, Cu2+, Zn2+ and so on. Its inhibition mechanism is the dispersion action and lattice distortion. And only in fixed certain relative molecular weight range, the scale performance of polycarboxylate will be obvious.
The general requests of biocides is controlling the growth of micro-organisms in the cooling water system so as to inhibiting microbial corrosion and microbial slime, but it does not necessarily require killing all microorganisms in the cooling water system.
